2010-04-09 - The National Award for Excellence in Teaching Criminology
The National Award for Excellence in Teaching Criminology
The development of a new national award in teaching criminology moved another step forward this month when Professor Gordon Hughes, Professor Richard Sparks and Professor Tim Newburn joined the ranks of the existing committee as future judges of the award. Support for this award has come from a number of HEA Subject Centres (C-SAP, SWAP, Psychology and Law), the British Society of Criminology (BSC) and the publishing house Sage.
A Symposium in Liverpool will launch the award on the 5th July, 2010 and the opening address will be given by Professor Hazel Croall. A call for award nominations will go out at this point with a closing date of the end of March 2011. The first award will be announced in 2011 at the BSC and C-SAP annual conferences.
