Original Event Description

Following on from the successful Teaching Gender event held on Friday 29th June 2007, the Centre for Sociology, Anthropology and Politics (C-SAP) and the Sexuality Study Group of the BSA (convened by Mehreen Mirza) are forming a joint reference group. The group will aim to:

- explore how the issues of 'gender', 'sexual divisions' and 'sexuality' are currently taught in the social sciences

- explore what challenges educators face when they attempt to articulate the complex sets of issues around gender and sexuality

- explore what learning. teaching and assessment innovations academic have developed to help educators in this process.

The initial meeting on Friday 19th October 2007 will be an opportunity for delegates to learn more about the work of C-SAP and the BSA Sexuality Study Group and how together we can progress a forum for discourse and sharing of effective practice. Places on this Study Group will be limited to 20 and you are encouraged to register ASAP. It is intended that the group will meet up to four times per year. The event will be convened by Malcolm Todd and Mehreen Mirza.
